I specialize in brand identity design and surface pattern design. I work with clients around the US and sometimes abroad. Currently I’m located in the Cincinnati area. I typically work solo, but I also have a network of talented people to partner with if projects call for it.
Over the years, I’ve narrowed in on these two kinds of work I love.
I grew up in Minnesota, the state known for lots of lakes, nice people, and Tater Tot hotdish. (If you want to learn to talk Minnesotan like a native, PBS will teach you in these funny videos.)
I have a B.S. in Design Communication from the University of Minnesota. After graduating, I worked at a corporate in-house creative department. Then spent several years at a Chicago design firm, and started my own business in 2007.
Currently I live in the Cincinnati area. (Newport in northern Kentucky—a walk across the Ohio River from downtown Cincy.) I still prefer Tater Tot hotdish to Skyline Chili, but it’s a pretty great place to live.
If you’re a student with questions about what it’s like to work as a designer, check out the interview page. If you’re a fellow creative, submit your info so we can collaborate sometime, or try my course on finding clients.

For seven years I wrote the design and craft blog How About Orange. A Bloggie web awards finalist most years, the site received up to a million visits a month. I archived it in 2014. It’s a relic from the early days of blogging and lives on, thanks to Blogspot’s free hosting.
Another little side project is my annual Oscar bingo game. For over a decade I’ve been customizing silly printable bingo cards to play along with each year’s telecast. This Oscar bingo game has been mentioned by People Magazine and The Today Show. Oscar bingo is always free, so sign up here and I’ll send you next year’s edition. You might also enjoy Hallmark Christmas Movie bingo.
